Did you know that there are almost 7 million people who live in Hong Kong?
To make a comparison - the City of Chicago has a population of 2,896,016. The city of Chicago is 237 square miles so there are 12,220 people per square mile.
Hong Kong is only 426 square miles? Mathematically there are 16,469 people per square mile, but not really - only 10 percent of the land of Hong Kong is inhabitable. The aerial shot of Hong Kong shows most of the rocky, mountainous, uninhabital area in green and the populated areas are gray.
One of the heaviest populated areas in HK is the Kowloon peninsula. Kowloon is 18 square miles and 2,019,533 people live in that area - that means there are 112,196 people per square mile.
How do they fit all those people in such a small area? They build high rise buildings, and many family members all live together in one flat.
More information on Hong Kong to come....
