Happy New Year
It is that time of the year again for the new year's glasses. 2010 is a little challenging but not impossible. Stay tuned for pics from tonight's party.

Back from My Trip
I'm back from visiting family in Chicago. We went to Milwaukee on Sunday and went to the museum, did some shopping and then to Mader's German Restaurant. This nice big chair in the entry way of the restaurant made me feel like a kid.
This did not make me feel like a kid - at least the snuggie is pink for October being breast cancer awareness month.

PB&G Now Serving Schlitz
Shawn won the pelt this past Sunday after our game against Meineke.
Alex played his last game of the summer with us and will play with kids his own age again in the fall.
Rupaul played his last game with us as he will be going to LA this fall to work for an inner city project. Good Luck, Ru - we will miss you and we hope to see you when you are back in town to visit.

Back From Africa
I am back from Africa and had a wonderful time. I still have a little bit of jet lag, but each day it is getting better. My ankle is still a bit tender and I am hoping to get back on the ice next Sunday against Meineke.
While in Tanzania I saw Mt. Kilimanjaro three times - which is pretty awesome, since most of the time the mountain is hidden by clouds and haze. Above I am overlooking part of Arusha National Park with Kili popping his head out in the background.
This is the view from the balcony of the first place I stayed in Moshi and during the second day there Kili showed himself for most of the afternoon.

Ankle Update
The ankle is still very swollen, sore, and is now starting to get more colorful. It is not a pretty site so I took this photo in front of the fish tank so at least the background would be something nice in the picture.
Sorry guys, I am out for this Sunday's game - I'll come and hobble around and keep the fire going out in the parking lot.

Dirty Hippie Slap Shot
I love hanging out at home on a Monday nursing a swollen ankle. At least now after using the old adage of RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) I am able to hobble around without my cane.
My ankle looks like a tree trunk, no definition where the ankle nob should be (since that is where the puck hit). Damn Dirty Hippies!

Baba O'Riley (aka Teenage Wasteland)
The List of the Day recently had a post about a similar discussion I had a few months ago with Scott and Charlie.
In the post on LOTD the conversation was between an adult around my age and his friend's 19-year-old brother.
ME: What are you listening to?
19YO GENIUS (removes his iPod earplugs): The Who.
ME: Great choice.
19YO GENIUS: You know them?
ME: The Who? Yes, I know them.
19YO GENIUS: I love "Teenage Wasteland."
ME: Oh yeah -- a classic, "Baba O'Riley."
19YO GENIUS: Huh?
ME: "Baba O'Riley."
19YO GENIUS: Who's that?
ME: That's the name of the song.
19YO GENIUS: Which one?
ME: Teenage wasteland. The title is actually "Baba O'Riley."
19YO GENIUS: Nuh uh. It's "Teenage Wasteland."
ME: It probably should be. But trust me, it's not.
19YO GENIUS: I don't think so, dude.
ME: I do.
19YO GENIUS: I have the CD.
ME (no longer giving a shit): Ok.
19YO GENIUS (still giving a shit): Do you have the CD?
ME: Yes. And I had the 8-track, the album, and the cassette. All of them say "Baba O'Riley."
19YO GENIUS: Oh. (pauses) Well, I still think it's "Teenage Wasteland."
ME: Ok.

Weenie Roast at the PB&G
Big Jim and his boys are having fun at the PB&G after the game last night. Nick is thinking "my dad is such a dork" - not sure if anyone knows what Cooper is thinking.
Good think Big Jim brought the kids as they were able to work on their Weenie Roasting badge for Scouts.
I forgot the grate for the grill so the boys whittled some sticks to roast the brats which tasted good with a little tree bark and ashes on them.
