Another Win over the Cyclones

We beat the Cyclones 5-3 last night and it was an interesting game as the ref was more of a donkey than anyone from the other team.

Christian won the pelt for his hattrick and his "misconduct"penalty (for going to the bench after the game to get his stick?).

Scott got the nuts for his great donkey pass late in the third period - luckily Shawn was able to handle the chaos in front of the net and no damage was done.

Lars was our pelt winner from last week - and I hope he wears a smaller pair of gloves during surgery.

Alert the Media

Alert the media! I found our missing teammates playing in a band last night. It was good to see Kendall and Heimy - and they sounded pretty good, too.

Kendall and Heimy's band, "Alert the Media" was playing at Foobar's in Shawnee as part of a benefit for a local child with cancer.

The band got the crowd going and really packed the place once they started playing.

Beach Hockey

We lost a tough 2-1 game against the Fort. Big Jim won the pelt for being "Big Jim"! No one messes with anyone on our team without having to deal with Big Jim. Shawn was honorable mention for his outstanding game in the net.

CNY Decorations

Shopping for decorations is part of the CNY holiday experience and during my recent trip to HK I had to do my shopping for new decorations for the year of the rat.

The lanterns are my favorite and the different colors, shapes and sizes are beautiful.

I have a dragon just like the one in this picture and Teddy does not like it one bit - it is about the same size as he is so I am sure he thinks that the dragon is coming after him.

One part of celebrating Chinese New Year is going to the special new year’s flower market in Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. It’s PACKED with three blocks of lanes of stalls and people selling all sorts of items to bring luck and good fortune for the coming year. The marked in the park is only set up until the few days before the CNY so I was not able to experience it this year, but I have been in years past and it truly is incredible.

The other markets around Hong Kong have many hawkers large and small, with stalls set up just to sell CNY decorations. You can find everything from lanterns, plush, couplets, lai see, and all kinds of paper decorations. Such a fantastic display of red, gold and other beautiful colors.
